Our Services
Assessment Services
The Clinic for Adult Attention Problems, P.A., provides comprehensive assessment services for adults and children experiencing attention problems (ages 5 and up). Our staff also have significant experience and expertise in assessing learning disorders, mood disorders (e.g., depression and bipolar disorders), anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and personality disturbances.
Treatment Services Though there is no cure for ADHD, the symptoms of the disorder can be effectively managed with the proper combination of treatments. Research has overwhelmingly demonstrated that greatest improvement results from combined use of medication and psychotherapy/coaching. However, just as there is no single test to diagnose ADHD in adults, no single treatment approach is appropriate for all individuals with attention problems. Nonetheless, virtually all adults with ADHD benefit from developing foundational organizational and time management skills. Our treatments often initially focus on helping indivduals develop these skills. Thereafter, we tailor the treatment plan to each individual's unique needs. For many, it can be healing simply to receive the diagnosis and understand that many of their past difficulties can be understood as fallout from this neurobehavioral condition. |
Liaison Services
Many adults with ADHD qualify for academic and/or occupational accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. This law prohibits discrimination in academic and employment settings against individuals with physical or mental impairments that substantially limit one or more major life activities--including learning and working.
Treatment of Other Disorders or Problems
For those struggling with difficulties other than ADHD, we offer individualized treatment plans to address learning disorders, mood disorders (e.g., depression and bipolar disorders), anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulisve disorders, and personality disturbances. In addition, therapy is available for those struggling with academic underachievement, work problems, and interpersonal troubles.
